Paleontology,
the study of prehistoric periods, explains the lifestyles
of prehistoric civilisations through the research
of fosil and artifacts they made. The museum has
a wide variety of these collections here.

Divided
into two sections, the treasure rooms hosts a collection
of imperial gold and silver which are crafted from
14-24 carat gold and many adorned with precious
stones. A statue of Prajnaparamita, a goddess of
transcendental wisdom who is adored with vast arrays
of jewelry from head to toe, completes the priceless
collections.

Collection from the
Indonesian bronze age which is well represented
in the museum and the collection, which comprises
3,199 pieces, is spectacular.

The stone sculpture
collection is one of the highlights of the museum
with an impressive amount of items in many form
and sizes. The statues are influenced by the budhist
& hindu time period.

A differentiate
collection of artifact from countries such as China,
Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, and Indonesia,
including those made out of terracotta. The museum's
ceramic collections opened since 1959 and host an
abundant number of collections.

With a collection
of over 17,112 Numismatic and Heraldic collections,
only 500 are on public display. The collections
consists of medals, coins, emblems, stamps and amulets.
The collection includes ancient Indonesian currency
which dates as early as the 8th century.

The collection
reflects the history of Indonesia between the 16th
and 19th century life style, or better known as the
colonial age. (Collection includes the a bust of Sir
Thomas Stamford Raffles and a mysterious locked treasure
chest which contents are still unknown till today.

The
collection contains all aspects of the indonesian
culture, customs and way of life. From tribal hats,
huts and houses to long boats and musical instruments.

From
the legendary tales of goddes' who brought cotton
to Indonesia to batik and the more modern colonial
dresses. Traditional woven cloth and fiber makes
up this incredible collection.

This Collection consists
of maps, both ancient and historical, showing various
areas of Indonesia during the dutch colonization,
including historical maps of Batavia or now known
as Jakarta.

The Museum Nasional shows a wide
variety of objects that are part of Indonesian daily life as well
as exhibits that are used in ceremonies and rituals. It houses over
100,000 cultural objects. You can enjoy displays of collections
in nine different rooms, namely Ethnography, Bronze, Prehistory,
Ceramics, Textile, Numismatics, Historical Relics, Stone Sculpture
and Treasure.
Visitors can choose which collections
they wish to see first, depending on their interests. If you wish
to see collections of gold-adorned artefacts first, turn left and
ascend the stairs to reach the Treasure Room and walk clockwise.
If you wish to see the Ethnography Collections first, just turn
right and walk anti-clockwise.
