The temporary exhibitions provide hanging space and facilities for a varied program of exhibitions. It provides visitors with an opportunity to view the museum's collections, explore local history and culture through exhibitions and activities and have access to touring art exhibitions previously unavailable in the area. Included into the temporary exhibition programs are those from other countries through their representative embassies as part of the country's cultural exchange programs. The museum also provides a venue for local artists and community groups to exhibit their own works.

Exhibition Tour
The museum provides general information about Museum Nasional's collections to elementary schools, secondary schools, university, the public and distinguished guests. The Indonesian Heritage Society (HIS) conducts the guided tour in different languages, including English, Japan, Dutch, German and French.

Exhibition Past
The museum provides a list of temporary exhibitions that have been held with the objective of providing information on the exhibitions past to the public in the form of catalogues and summaries of seminars. These can also serve as a reference for other museums that wish to hold exhibitions.
